The Scantronic i-on40 control unit comprises an end station with remote keypads. The simple-to-install end station has an ABS plastic case which contains the radio transceiver, power supply and backup battery. Up to four keypads connect to the end station by standard alarm cable, allowing the end user to set and unset the system, and the installer to fully configure the control unit. The keypads also contain integral proximity tag readers, so that end users can control the system without having to remember access codes.
During programming the installer can set up the system as either a part setting system with full set and three part sets, or a partitioned system where each of the four partitions has full set and a single part set. The Scantronic i-on40 offers a wide range of communication options. Plug-on modules provide connection to either the telephone system (PSTN), the mobile phone network (GSM) or the internet via Ethernet or GPRS. In addition, the control unit provides a set of output pins which can be used to drive stand-alone communicators. To make the installation and maintenance simple, the Scantronic i-on40 control unit also provides Ethernet and USB connectors for attaching PCs or laptops. The control unit can be programmed using a standard web browser from an Ethernet connected laptop, or by Cooper Security's Downloader software using the on-board USB port. In addition, if the control unit is fitted with a PSTN module the installer can use Downloader for remote maintenance. The new panel was a big hit with installers and distributors at the series of launch events. The i-on40 hybrid panel features 16 conventional and 24 radio zones, using Cooper Security’s innovative combined dual diversity 868MHz narrow-band radio system to provide unrivalled radio performance, putting an end to concerns about limited radio signals. It means that the product is easy and fast to fit. The panel can accommodate two wired and two wireless keypads. The wireless keypads have a built in prox reader and offer an impressive battery life. Sixteen users can be added to the panel. Each can have a remote control, prox tag and a pin number. The system has a full set and a part set which can be activated and de-activated from the keypads or from the remote control. Scantronic i-on40 is compatible with the new 760 radio sounder. Two can be fitted to the system or it can be connected to a wired sounder via one of the four transistorised outputs. Scantronic i-on40 has an optional plug-on communicator for upgrading installations to 'bells plus' this also contains contactID and Fast Format to enable the system to be set up to communicate a keyholder response alert. The 7Amp/hr battery gives the 40 hours back-up that professional security installers expect from a product. The Scantronic i-on40 panel end station can be positioned away discretely and securely near the mains power source and a 4 wire alarm cable run to the compact and attractive keypad to provide a customer interface for the system.
